I have 5 different credit cards, two of which are issued from banks and the total debt on all combined is $4,000.00 …Is it possible to consoldate all the debts from these cards onto one so I just have one payment each month?

Hey All,
I have a friend who did something really stupid about a year ago. She got about 4 credit cards from various companies, and maxed them all out. Today she shared with me that she has NEVER paid any of them. I mean she hasn’t paid any bills whatsoever. Not a dime. She gets calls days and nights. I am really worried about her. Is she going to be OK? Will she be arrested?
Please only serious questions!

Why or why not? Do you own one (or many)? What advice would you give to someone who doesn’t have any credit cards?
Cold- yes it is cold lol. That is a very good idea to use them for gas and groceries. I never thought of using them for that to build up credit.
Do all credit cards have no interest? When does the interest get tacked on?

I have been told that to make my credit score higher, I need to reduce my credit card debt to 40% of the limit of the card. I was told that the card debt only begins hurting you when you go above that 40% of the limit of the card.
I just read somewhere else that going above 20% begins to HURT your credit score. Which is it?

I have a Citi Visa card since 2002 and a new Citi Mastercard with rebates which I’ve received a month ago. I like the rebate features on the Mastercard and I would like to combine both cards into the Mastercard. Will I lose my credit history on the Visa if I move the credit limit to the Mastercard and close Visa?

I have only one credit card which is maxed at $7100 and the interest is now 34%. Obviously I messed up big time. I am 20 and am still a little confused about how credit cards work..I just know I need to get this thing paid off ASAP. It’s already cut up!!
My minimum monthly payment is about $265 and the balance just goes up every month of course. I tried to get a new card to pay it off with a lower interest rate but the highest I can get is $2000 at 14%. I tried again somewhere else and they offered $1500 at 12%. My question is, should I open enough new cards to pay off the big one since the interest would be less than half of what it is now? Or would that be worse? I’m thinking it would be easier to make minimum payments on them but pay more on one til it’s paid off, and then do that again and again until they are all paid off. ??? Thanks!
When I said pay off the big one with new cards, transferring the balance to the new cards is what I meant.
I didn’t know you could call and ask for a lower interest rate. I made several late payments and my interest went way up every time. I will call and try to get a lower rate. This is a Sears Mastercard.

I just paid off two cards in anticipation of applying for a loan. I’d like those cards to show up as zero balance on my credit report. How often are these reports updated? Should I call them and ask them to send an update? How long will I need to wait for these to be recorded as zero balance. Thanks!

something or cards that will build your credit enough to have a low down payment on a car or even no down payments. I have no credit and needs a way to build my credit.

i have two credit cards which belong to the same bank. is it advisable to consolidate both the accounts and keep the one with the lower APR. in this process the other one gets automatically closed and the credit limits are added into the one account. is this process likely to affect my credit score in any way?
