Srah asked:

I have heard plenty of different things about credit history and what effects it. My question is are they true. If you have a lot of credit cards, does that ruin your credit too? And how do you know if you have good or bad credit?

Hi I’ve recently opened up 3 home depot credit cards within the past 3 months. If I close all 3 within the 3 month period would my credit score be affected?

Thanks

I need to improve my credit to buy a house so I have paid off 3 credit cards I had for certain stores. Is it better to keep them open or should I cancel the cards?

SadStormtrooper asked:

I only use credit cards anywhere they are allowed since my credit card gives me 3% cash back. It’s a Chase Freedom card. I set it up to automatically take the payment out of my bank account every month so I don’t have to worry about paying it. Using debt cards and cash where you could be using a credit card just seems like a waste to me. Are people just dumb or is there some other logic behind not always using reward credit cards?

ken88dorset asked:

I have over 10 credit cards with a credit line of about 100K. I pay all my bills on time. I have no balances on my credit cards. I have an excellent credit score of 820.

But I am tired of taking care of so many cards and I want to close most of them; may be keep about 4-5. Would this lower my credit score?

Please reply only if you have a definite knowledge about the subject. No guesswork or opinions please.

I am planning to buy a new house in about 6 months and I like to be on the right track, as far as possible. Thanks.

Sonia

SKitty47 asked:

When giving a refund you must refund the exact credit card to which the item was paid with. I once refunded a woman by punching in her credit card number but changing the last two digits to the last two of the original purchase. Her husband had purchased it on his, which was an identical number to hers, with the last two digits being different. I have noticed many credit cards ending in 00XX. Are these standards for all joint bank accounts or only one, say Visa?

Paid off 2 credit cards. Both were almost maxed out. One for $1,000 and one for $1,500. How long will it take for my score to go up and about how long could this take? Let me know! Thanks! I will give 10 points to a helpful answer!
